Search Underway for Four Escaped Inmates in Alabama

Authorities have initiated a search for four inmates who escaped from a correctional facility in central Alabama. The escape occurred at the Perry County Correctional PREP Center located in Uniontown, Alabama. The Perry County Sheriff’s Office received alerts regarding the escape around 1 a.m. local time on Saturday.

The sheriff’s office has identified the escaped inmates as Marquavious Billingsley, Jaden Christopher Maxwell, Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr., and Kevin Gunn. Currently, details about how they managed to escape remain unknown.

The inmates, originally from Dallas County, Alabama, were at the PREP center under an agreement with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. The PREP Center stands for Parole and Probation Reentry Education and Employment Program. They faced charges including murder, first-degree robbery, breaking and entering vehicles, first-degree escape, first-degree assault, and promoting prison contraband.

Authorities have asked the public to report any information about the whereabouts of these individuals by calling 911. They cautioned not to approach or try to apprehend the escapees. Perry County Sheriff Roy Fikes emphasized the importance of community safety and noted that deputies, along with other agencies, are actively working to locate and apprehend the escapees. An investigation is ongoing.

“The safety of Perry County residents is the top priority,” stated Sheriff Roy Fikes in a news release.
