U.S. Conducts Self-Defense Strikes in Southern Iran Amid Ceasefire

4 weeks ago 0

The United States military has carried out self-defense strikes in southern Iran. This action took place on Monday, aiming at missile launch sites and Iranian vessels trying to plant mines. The information comes from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesman for CENTCOM, provided a statement to Newsweek. He remarked, “U.S. forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces. Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines.” Hawkins emphasized that CENTCOM continues to defend U.S. forces while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.

The strikes coincide with a statement from President Donald Trump. On Monday, he expressed on Truth Social that negotiations with Iran are proceeding well. He stated, “It will only be a Great Deal for all or, no Deal at all, back to the Battlefront and shooting, but bigger and stronger than ever before. And nobody wants that!”

Trump also mentioned that certain Middle Eastern countries should consider signing onto the Abraham Accords. He highlighted efforts by the United States to piece together this complex situation.

This is a developing story that will be updated with additional information.
