Retired General Suggests Military Action Against Iran Amid Nuclear Tensions

1 month ago 0

Retired General Jack Keane has voiced his belief that the United States should consider military action against Iran, as the regime in Tehran is currently at its most vulnerable. He argues that Iran continues to be dishonest about its nuclear goals, even as former President Donald Trump remains open to forming a new deal.

“I believe we are reaching the conclusion that the military option is indeed the most suitable course of action,” Keane commented on Fox & Friends Weekend. According to him, Trump has a rare “historic opportunity” to craft conditions that could lead to regime collapse in Iran, potentially paving the way for long-lasting peace in the Middle East and cementing his presidential legacy.

While Keane acknowledges that Trump has frequently employed diplomatic strategies to fulfill his objectives, he still advocates for military efforts against Iran. He asserts that if Iran were to negotiate a deal, they would primarily seek relief from sanctions. Thus, even an advantageous deal for the U.S. would ultimately harm America, the region, and the Iranian populace by extending the ayatollah’s regime, which he states is currently at its weakest state economically, politically, and militarily.

Keane highlights the destabilizing role Iran plays in the Middle East, utilizing proxies to attack Israel while suppressing its own citizens. Despite their claims, the Iranian regime remains “persistent in the big lie,” insisting their goal is pursuing civil nuclear power. “They only have one nuclear plant, which provides less than 1% of energy for their electric grid,” he stated, labeling these claims as deceptive and continuing falsehoods.

Keane’s remarks followed a visit to the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Adm. Brad Cooper, the commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). This visit was part of a scheduled deployment, taking place after recent nuclear discussions between the U.S. and Iran in Oman. Trump, describing these talks as “very good,” stated the importance of Iran agreeing to refrain from pursuing nuclear weapons in any potential deal.

“Iran looks eager to reach a deal,” Trump mentioned to reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to Mar-a-Lago, reiterating the necessity that any agreement includes a renunciation of nuclear arms.
