Southwest Airlines plans to introduce 11 new nonstop international routes starting November. This expansion provides travelers with more options for tropical destinations.
Beginning November 1, Southwest will start nonstop flights from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas to Puerto Vallarta (PVR). With over 40% of flight operations at LAS, Southwest strengthens its presence there.
Next year, starting February 2027, the airline will offer nonstop service from Nashville International Airport (BNA) to Liberia. In March, flights to Aruba (AUA) will commence. Nassau, Bahamas will also be accessible via Southwest’s nonstop flights.
The demand for travel to Liberia has risen by 11.8% recently. Travelers should note there is a Level 2 travel advisory in effect, and a visa is required for visits, according to the U.S. Department of State.
In June, BNA will start nonstop flights to Nassau (NAS) and Providenciales (PLS), marking Southwest as the sole carrier offering direct flights on these Nashville routes.
Additionally, Southwest is introducing four new international routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in June. These include flights to San José, Costa Rica starting in March, and service to Liberia, Punta Cana, and Nassau beginning in June.
New direct flights will also be available from Columbus (CMH) and Pittsburgh (PIT) to Punta Cana (PUJ) in March and June, respectively.
Southwest Airlines, which commenced service on June 18, 1971, is now the largest low-cost carrier worldwide. The airline operates various models of the Boeing 737, with the Boeing 737 MAX 8 being the newest addition to its fleet.
