Held at Madison Square Garden in New York, this year’s edition marked a significant milestone—the 150th anniversary of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. As such, it came with additional fanfare and heightened excitement.
This Year’s Show
For nearly 80 years, since 1948, the Westminster Dog Show has been a televised spectacle, allowing dog enthusiasts nationwide to witness the grace and skill of these exceptional animals. The final judging rounds were broadcast live on FOX networks, with streaming options available on FOXSports.com and the FOX Sports App.
New Highlights for 2026
This year’s competition drew more than 500 additional entries compared to the previous year, highlighting a diverse array of beloved breeds. Spectators and judges alike were treated to the sight of breeds such as golden retrievers, French bulldogs, and Australian shepherds, among others, gracing the competition rings.
Adding even more excitement, the Danish-Swedish farm dog made its debut as a competing breed, characterized by the Westminster Kennel Club as a ‘little big dog.’
Recap of Last Year’s Victory
Reflecting on past triumphs, the 2025 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show crowned Monty, a majestic black giant schnauzer, ‘Best in Show.’ At five years of age, Monty was the trailblazer for giant schnauzers to win this coveted honor.
Monty’s handler, Katie Bernardin, previously attributed Monty’s success to cutting-edge care techniques, including cold laser therapy, water treadmill exercises, and the occasional indulgence in carne asada treats—a superb regimen for a working dog at the top of his game.
