Trump Rejects Livestreaming of Hasan’s Execution

1 hour ago 0

President Donald Trump dismissed plans on Thursday to livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, diverging from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s intention.

Trump expressed his decision on Truth Social, stating that although Hasan was a “very bad and evil man,” his execution would proceed by firing squad, but without public broadcasting. The president noted the potential deterrent effect but respected the views of those who preferred not to witness such events through streaming or visual devices.

“He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed,” Trump clarified.

Trump mentioned that families of the victims have the opportunity to observe the execution in person. He emphasized their right to witness justice, should they decide to attend.

Hasan was responsible for the death of 13 individuals and injuries to over 30 others during a 2009 shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.

On October 8, Hegseth revealed intentions to publicly broadcast Hasan’s execution, marking a precedent in U.S. history not seen for decades. This proposal faced resistance from both Trump and Vice President JD Vance, along with concerns raised by former military officials.

This is an ongoing story. More updates will be provided as information becomes available.
