Deion Sanders Downplays Incident of Leaked Playbook

More than a week after an alleged offensive script from Colorado was shared on social media by a Texas Tech fan, head coach Deion Sanders aims to move past the situation without delving into details. This incident surfaced during a game between the two teams and caught fans’ attention as they tried to verify the script’s authenticity.

Before the game in Boulder, fans of Texas Tech reportedly found Colorado’s offensive plays. These plays eventually appeared on message boards and social media. The team usually stays at a hotel near the stadium in the Broomfield area, Boulder. During this instance, a script of plays was seemingly left at the hotel bar, where many Texas Tech fans were present.

When asked about it, Sanders responded to a reporter, “A whole playbook? Somebody left a whole playbook, or a script of several plays. I don’t think we have a whole playbook… I thought we scored on the first drive… So, what’s the purpose of the question?” His response suggests he knew a mistake occurred but wasn’t overly concerned.

Asked if he would investigate the matter further, Sanders questioned the need for it, stating, “Why would we, it’s over. Game is over, why would we do that? We probably know a lot more than you think we do. A whole playbook? Come on.” When pressed whether the leaked plays matched those used in the game, Sanders admitted it happens at both collegiate and professional levels.

Despite the attention, Sanders seemed more inclined to shrug off the incident. “If someone left that, they left it. Mistake, what am I going to do about it? It’s over,” he said, preferring to focus on upcoming games rather than dwelling on past mishaps.

Reflecting on the possibility of using such leaked scripts, Sanders questioned their reliability. He emphasized skepticism, pondering if the script was real or just a ploy. “If somebody called us and said Utah left the first twenty plays of their script, I wouldn’t believe that,” he added.

This situation is just one of the many unusual events surrounding Colorado’s football program under Sanders. As he tries to steady the program, whether scripts or other challenges, the focus remains on overcoming internal and external hurdles.
