New York Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering Ex-Girlfriend

2 hours ago 0

A man from New York, Damon Foy, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing and dismembering his ex-girlfriend, Alberta Dale. He claimed she played him “like a sucker” after their relationship ended. The crime took place between March 31 and April 1, 2024, and Foy was in the process of disposing of her body when he was apprehended.

Investigation and Arrest

On April 1, 2024, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office began investigating after Dale’s family in Pennsylvania expressed concern. Officers initially conducted a welfare check before declaring her as missing. A member of the public later found Dale’s phone on the roadside, which raised suspicions of foul play and led investigators to question Foy.

When detectives arrived at Foy’s home, he confessed, “I killed her,” and led them to Dale’s body. During the search, they discovered her dismembered remains in a suitcase hidden in a closet.

Background and Sentencing

Dale had recently ended her relationship with Foy before the tragedy occurred. Foy had a history of domestic violence, including a previous incident involving a gun. Dale had warned that if she ever went missing, Foy would be responsible.

Under a plea agreement, Foy is expected to receive a sentence of 23 years to life, with a minimum term of 23 years. This deal had the support of Dale’s family.

Statements from Authorities

Chief Assistant District Attorney Liz Culmone-Mills indicated that the agreement was aligned with the family’s wishes. District Attorney Emmanuel C. Nneji emphasized the need to protect victims and ensure their safety from domestic violence, highlighting the “total selfish disregard” shown by Foy.

Foy’s sentencing is set for December 16, and the case underlines the critical importance of recognizing the rights and safety of domestic violence victims.
