The Pentagon announced that the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the convicted Fort Hood terrorist, will be livestreamed. This marks the first military execution in over 60 years. According to a War Department official, details of the livestream will be provided soon. Hasan’s execution is set for December 3 at Fort Hood, Texas.
In November 2009, Hasan, a former Army major, shot and killed 13 people and injured 32 others at Fort Hood while shouting “Allahu Akbar.” He was convicted in 2013 and received a death sentence for his actions during the massacre.
President Donald Trump sanctioned the use of an Army firing squad after War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s recommendation. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell announced the decision, stating that Hasan is finally facing “judgment day.”
If the execution proceeds, it will be the first military execution since 1961 and the first by firing squad since 1945. Hasan is currently on military death row at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
