U.S. Central Command Targets ISIS in Latest Military Operations

2 months ago 0

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) recently announced a series of military strikes targeting significant ISIS facilities, with operations spanning several days. These actions are part of a coordinated effort aimed at the permanent dismantling of the terrorist network, ensuring its inability to stage a comeback.

From January 27 to February 2, CENTCOM forces successfully identified and took out critical ISIS assets. These included a communication hub, an essential logistics node, and a cache of weapons. The assaults employed various military assets such as fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, alongside unmanned drones, deploying fifty precision-guided munitions to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.

Striking these targets demonstrates our continued focus and resolve for preventing an ISIS resurgence in Syria, stated Admiral Brad Cooper, CENTCOM’s commanding officer. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with coalition and regional partners in maintaining pressure on ISIS to protect both American and global security.

Operation Hawkeye Strike, initiated in response to a recent ISIS assault, underscores the heightened tensions in the region. The December 13 attack against U.S. and Syrian forces in Palmyra resulted in the loss of two American service members and an interpreter.

In the ongoing operations, CENTCOM has reported neutralizing or capturing over fifty ISIS operatives. Among them was Bilal Hasan al-Jasim, a high-level terrorist leader, targeted and eliminated in a tactical strike in northwest Syria on January 16. Al-Jasim had direct ties to the gunman involved in the deadly December 13 attack.

Previously, in December, CENTCOM had announced the intent behind Operation Hawkeye Strike, a mission critical to disrupting ISIS activities and preventing potential threats against the United States. Admiral Cooper reiterated, We will continue to relentlessly pursue terrorists who seek to harm Americans and our partners across the region.

Operational efforts in the preceding months, prior to the initiation of Hawkeye Strike, included more than 80 actions aimed at identifying and neutralizing terrorists who threatened U.S. and regional stability.
