Prince William and Prince Harry: Strained Relations Amid Diana Anniversary Plans

2 hours ago 0

Prince William is not expected to reunite with his brother, Prince Harry, for any potential new documentary about their late mother, Princess Diana. Piers Morgan has commented on this, stating the brothers’ ongoing rift makes a reunion unlikely.

“They don’t speak to each other and haven’t done so for years,” Morgan told Fox News Digital. He further explained that William is “incandescent with anger” over Harry’s actions that have been perceived as damaging to the royal family, including writing books, creating Netflix documentaries, and podcasts that have criticized family members such as his wife, Catherine, Camilla, and King Charles.

Several royal experts have confirmed that the brothers have not been on speaking terms since 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Harry’s actions have reportedly affected their relationship negatively. Fox News Digital sought comment from Kensington Palace but did not receive a response.

The Times reported that Prince William has decided against creating a film about Princess Diana, marking the 30th anniversary of her death in part to avoid further conflict with Harry. He has declined several offers to participate in documentaries about his mother, citing tributes during the 20th anniversary as his “catharsis.”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is considering various projects to honor his mother’s legacy on the upcoming anniversary. Although some ideas are in discussion, none have been finalized, according to People magazine. Harry has reached out to acquaintances and friends related to Princess Diana for advice.

Fox News Digital also contacted Archewell for comment. Ian Pelham Turner, a royal broadcaster, noted that Harry and Meghan have remained mostly quiet, while the Waleses have been actively engaged in royal duties. This estrangement has reportedly left their father, King Charles III, confused, facing his own challenges.

Friends of William indicated that the upcoming anniversary presents a complex situation for him. The Times reported that William found his uncle Charles Spencer’s memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” challenging due to its criticisms of King Charles, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed cancer.

The royal brothers had previously collaborated on projects about their mother around the 20th anniversary in 2017. However, Prince William expressed that they would not publicly speak about her so openly again. Both William and Harry were deeply affected by Diana’s death.

Prince Harry has often shared how profoundly Diana’s death impacted him. In his 2023 memoir “Spare,” Harry recounted his emotional breakdown during the burial of Diana, highlighting the intense grief he felt.
