A tragic shooting occurred on Chicago’s South Side Wednesday afternoon. A 70-year-old woman lost her life in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood after a verbal argument escalated into violence.
Details of the Shooting
The altercation took place inside a residence located on the 1900 block of West 83rd Street. It involved a 63-year-old man and the victim, a woman who was not immediately identified. According to Chicago police, the verbal disagreement occurred around 3:20 p.m.
The situation turned dire as the man involved produced a firearm and shot the woman. She was hit in the neck and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not release her name, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigation and Charges
Police recovered one firearm from the location. The shooter was apprehended and charges were pending as of Wednesday night.
The shooting is believed to be domestic-related, prompting further investigation by Calumet Area detectives.
