Ty Kennedy Finds Success at Mount Carmel

After transferring from Crown Point in Indiana, junior tight end Ty Kennedy has quickly adapted to the Mount Carmel football team’s dynamic setup. Despite joining a squad with many returning talents, Kennedy has smoothly integrated himself into the offensive lineup. It wasn’t difficult at all, Kennedy remarked. The culture here requires buy-in, and it’s fantastic. I couldn’t ask for more, whether it’s the teammates or coaches. Coach Jordan Lynch displays incredible offensive expertise, and everyone here is supportive. It’s amazing.

Kennedy is proving to be another reliable asset for the Caravan. He showcased his skills by catching four passes for 66 yards and scoring two touchdowns in Mount Carmel’s 56-26 victory over Marist in a Catholic League Blue match held in Chicago. Quarterback Brady Cloherty achieved 18 completions out of 33 attempts, accumulating 295 yards and five touchdowns for Mount Carmel, which is now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in league play. They pulled ahead with 28 points in the final eight minutes after Marist narrowed the gap to 28-20.

Cloherty commented on their strategy. Our goal was to start strong, but initially, we didn’t. Once Coach Lynch motivated us, we managed to score effectively. Marshaun Thornton also contributed with four catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns for Mount Carmel. Nathan Samuels, committed to Lindenwood, ran for 112 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

For Marist, Jake Fleming completed 14 of 34 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Mayoski secured a 16-yard touchdown catch and threw a touchdown pass of the same distance to Conor Fleming. Additionally, JJ Nash had four receptions for 108 yards with two touchdowns.

Kennedy, a prominent target for Cloherty, caught touchdowns of 22 and 16 yards in the second quarter, helping Mount Carmel secure a 28-7 lead by halftime. It’s wonderful, Kennedy stated. I feel deeply integrated into the offense now. My teammates trust me, and I trust them. I’m proud to be a part of the Caravan.

Both Kennedy and Cloherty transferred to Mount Carmel this year, bonding over shared challenges. They developed a strong rapport swiftly. He was eager to learn the offense right away, Cloherty said. We both learned together, running routes and boosting our chemistry. Ty handles the demanding aspects of the run game while shining as a receiver.

Kennedy, a three-sport athlete, also participates in basketball and lacrosse. Kennedy shared. Basketball enhances my overall athleticism. Every sport complements the others. I intend to continue all three as much as possible. My dad says the season I’m currently in is my favorite, and right now, football’s hard to beat.

Coach Lynch appreciates Kennedy’s presence, seeing the new addition as an asset against opposing defenses. He’s an additional option for us, Lynch noted. We’re gradually integrating him, and he’s learning continuously. He’s showing improvement each week. He works hard in practice and made several key catches last game.

Kennedy is also starting to draw interest from college scouts. He planned visits to colleges, with Illinois and Northwestern on his schedule. It’s thrilling, Kennedy expressed. This feels like living the dream.
