September is shaping up to be a historic month for Lucha Libre, as Triplemania 34, the signature event for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, makes its debut in the United States. This occasion marks a significant milestone for AAA, commonly referred to as AAA. Night 1 of the event will occur at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on a Friday, offering some of the finest pro wrestling entertainment. Night 2 will be hosted at Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Sunday.

The event is set to feature talents who regularly perform on AAA’s Saturday night programming, along with appearances from a few familiar WWE stars. For fans of pro wrestling who may be unfamiliar with Triplemania or AAA, commentator Corey Graves provided insights in an interview with OutKick Dropkick. He likened the style and vibrant nature of Lucha Libre to the Savannah Bananas.

“Most people are familiar with WrestleMania. Even if they aren’t pro wrestling fans, they know about it as a famed brand for over 40 years. Triplemania is about to present its 34th edition, and Lucha Libre in Mexico is professional wrestling known in America but is distinct. It’s a unique cultural touchstone,” he stated. “You’ll find bright colors, incredible action, and influences from the Lucha Libre style in Raw or SmackDown. While it may resemble what you see in WWE, it has its own charm.”

Graves continued, “If WWE is like Major League Baseball, AAA is comparable to the Savannah Bananas, meaning that although the foundation remains the same, it presents itself through a unique lens. The characters, costumes, pageantry, and action distinguish Lucha Libre in Mexico. AAA now has the chance to bring this spectacle to the American audience in Las Vegas.”

Besides, Graves indicated that fans wish to engage with the experience, even if they might not entirely comprehend the deep-rooted history of Lucha Libre in Mexico.

“It’s all about moments and memories. It’s more about being present and enjoying the event rather than statistics and records,” Graves remarked. “AAA has become an experience; you desire to be part of it, even if you don’t fully grasp it.”

Graves emphasized the importance of enhancing the visual aspect while maintaining the essence of Lucha Libre. While the production improvements and inclusion of WWE stars add value, the core of AAA remains pure Lucha Libre. TripleMania stands as AAA’s equivalent to WrestleMania.

Las Vegas has witnessed an active period with WWE hosting WrestleMania 41 and 42 at Allegiant Stadium in 2025 and 2026, respectively. The excitement escalates as a big wrestling event returns to the city.

Initially designated for Luxor, shifting the venue to MGM Grand Garden Arena was necessary due to overwhelming interest. Graves noted, “The high demand prompted us to move from Luxor to MGM Grand Garden Arena. This increased interest may indicate growing curiosity among English-speaking audiences who can watch AAA free on YouTube every Saturday night.”

Night 1 of Triplemania 34 will feature a significant match between Rey Mysterio, AAA’s general manager, and Omos. If victorious, Omos returns to AAA; if not, he faces permanent exclusion. Dominik Mysterio will support Omos, while El Grande Americano will stand with Rey Mysterio. Both are scheduled for Night 2, as Mysterio defends the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano.
