Elon Musk’s Super PAC Spends Over $800,000 Supporting Republican Candidates

Elon Musk’s political action committee, America PAC, announced a significant expenditure of over $800,000 last month, focusing on aiding Republican candidates in tight Senate and House races. The primary concentration was in Texas and Maine, where Republicans are currently defending key Senate seats.

In August alone, America PAC allocated financial resources to several competitive Senate races. The breakdown of spending included Texas ($247,595), Maine ($170,224.29), Ohio ($105,675), New Hampshire ($91,458.50), Iowa ($54,600), Michigan ($25,605), and Alaska ($17,235). Throughout these states, the focus was on Republican incumbents and candidates.

Additionally, America PAC extended its support to Republican candidates in contested House districts across Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Wisconsin.

House Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed his meeting with Musk during a Texas campaign stop. While he did not disclose specifics regarding their discussions on financial support for Republicans in the approaching midterms, he expressed confidence in Republican success in the upcoming elections.

“He’s made public a lot of what he’s doing. I’m going to talk about our conversation on that point, but we’re gonna win the midterms,” Johnson noted.

The reported spending was earmarked for “PRINTING,” implying the funds were channeled into mail advertisement campaigns. Chris Young, a GOP operative with a background in Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, approved the disbursement. Young joined Musk in 2024 to oversee the operations and spending of America PAC.

Apart from the mail campaigns, America PAC invested over $207,000 in digital advertising, targeting states like Texas, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Maine. These ads primarily served as reminders for voters to cast their ballots. One specific ad highlighted New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, urging voters to prevent socialism from taking hold in America.

Previously in 2024, America PAC expended approximately $239 million to back Republican candidates, with Musk emerging as the top donor for either political party during that electoral cycle.

During an interview last year, Musk expressed an intention to scale back his political spending, stating, “I think in terms of political spending, I’m going to do a lot less in the future.” He emphasized that he felt his contributions had been substantial enough.
