Despite adding several pitchers, there’s uncertainty about their playoff starters. Hitting may cover the pitching gaps, but the reliance on home runs is concerning for postseason progress. Clay Holmes, a starter today, was acquired from the Mets. He has a record of 5-6, with an ERA of 2.49, and a WHIP of 1.11 over 68.2 innings. Recently, Holmes allowed just one earned run in 12 innings. Against the Diamondbacks, he gave up two earned runs over 5.2 innings.

Arizona Diamondbacks Insights
The Arizona Diamondbacks have faced unique challenges, notably with Ketel Marte’s recent absence. Reports indicate he is returning soon. This is essential as they compete for a Wild Card spot. Cubs hitters managed only a .165 average against Pfaadt. Seiya Suzuki is 1-for-12, and Ian Happ is 1-for-15 against him. However, Happ frequently makes contact, so he might turn his performance around.
This game favors the pitchers. I can’t confidently predict a winner, so I’m avoiding choosing a side. Instead, I anticipate few runs and a close contest. I’ll take the under 8.5 for this match, expecting a low-scoring affair.
