Kyiv has increased its military operations, using drones and long-range missiles to strike military and energy targets in Russia. The attacks have directly impacted Russian civilians, targeting locations like Wildberries depots, causing significant economic loss.

Simultaneously, Russia intensified its attacks on Ukraine. Drone strikes in Kyiv destroyed homes and set fire to the city’s prominent book market. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of 822 Ukrainian drones. Around 600 drones were detected heading toward Moscow, with a third being intercepted in the region.

An 83-year-old man lost his life when a drone hit a private residence in Moscow. A subsequent attack initiated a fire at a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk.

In southwestern Russia’s Rostov region, a drone assault killed five people. The attack involved over 150 drones and caused damages to homes and a railway station. In contrast, Russian missile strikes in Ukraine resulted in casualties and major fires.

In Ukraine’s Kryvyi Rih, a missile attack killed two individuals and injured 14 others. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the incidents on social media. Fires erupted in Kyiv, including at a book market near the Pochaina metro station. Firefighters managed to control the flames that covered the city with smoke.

Zelenskyy stated that Russians target civilian infrastructure wherever possible. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced targeting a metallurgical plant in Kryvyi Rih and military-industrial sites in Kyiv, impacting Ukraine’s missile production capabilities.

In an allied NATO region, Romania faced drone intrusions. A Spanish F-18 fighter jet shot down a drone in Romanian airspace. The drone was neutralized after radar contact was made. Debris was later found near the Black Sea and Constanta.

Moldova reported the presence of a Geran-type Shahed drone, which traveled from Ukraine to Romania.

These drone incidents in Romania follow a recent pattern of increased drone activity near the Ukrainian border. Romania has witnessed several drone-related incidents since the onset of hostilities between Ukraine and Russia.
