Republican Governor Kay Ivey has initiated special primaries in Alabama’s 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th Congressional Districts. This decision follows a major Supreme Court ruling that weakened aspects of the Voting Rights Act. As a result, Alabama can now implement a previously blocked House map that favors Republican candidates.
