Nick Reiner Indicted for Parents’ Murders

Nick Reiner has been formally charged in the killings of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. They were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home last December. Reiner, 32, appeared in court to face the new indictment, which now includes the allegation of lying in wait. This charge opens the possibility of a life sentence without parole or the death penalty.

Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered dead on December 14. Nick Reiner was apprehended approximately 12 hours later in Exposition Park. The indictment circumvents a preliminary hearing, thus accelerating the case’s progression to trial. This method also prevents witnesses from publicly testifying about the gruesome events and history involving Nick Reiner.

“This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing,” stated Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman. “We hope that the grand jury’s indictment will bring us closer to a trial and achieving justice.”

Nick Reiner pleaded not guilty to the charges of two counts of murder. The indictment emphasizes multiple murders and lying in wait. It also adds that he used a knife as a deadly weapon.

The motive behind the killings remains undisclosed. However, Nick Reiner had publicly addressed his struggles with mental health and addiction. He and his father collaborated on the 2015 film “Being Charlie.” The film depicted characters resembling them, highlighting the impact of drugs on a relationship between a successful actor and his son struggling with addiction.
