Michael LaRosa Criticizes Abdul El-Sayed Over Controversial Alliance

Michael LaRosa, former press secretary for Jill Biden, recently announced he will not support Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. The reason: El-Sayed’s association with Hasan Piker, a streamer known for controversial comments about the September 11 terrorist attacks.

LaRosa, breaking from his party’s usual lines, made his stance clear in a post following reports of his support shifting to Republican candidate Mike Rogers instead of El-Sayed. The issue centers on El-Sayed’s campaign collaboration with Piker. In 2019, Piker stated in a livestream that ‘America deserved 9/11,’ stirring widespread condemnation.

“I won’t defend or support anyone who is too cowardly to stand up to extremists who think the mother of my best friend, who jumped from 95 stories because the alternative was worse, deserved what happened to her,” LaRosa wrote.

LaRosa’s opposition arises from personal grief, as his best friend’s mother died in the attacks, choosing to leap from the 95th floor of the World Trade Center. He firmly rejects supporting anyone, like El-Sayed, who associates with someone making such statements.
