Real Madrid has reached an agreement with Leipzig to acquire the young Ivorian international Yan Diomande. The Spanish club announced on Thursday that the 19-year-old forward will be under contract for the next seven seasons.

Diomande had an impressive World Cup, attracting interest from several Premier League teams as reported. Leipzig had previously insisted he was not for sale. The Ivory Coast was eliminated by Norway in the round of 32 of the tournament.

“Diomande amazed us with his carefree attitude, eagerness to learn, and bravery from the outset,” said Leipzig’s sporting director, Marcel Schäfer. “He quickly established himself at the highest level with us, demonstrating his speed, dribbling capability, and goal-scoring threat.”

The club was proud that Diomande’s performances drew significant international attention. Reports also noted that Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in signing the young forward.

It remains uncertain whether Diomande will initially join Real Madrid’s B team. The first team is undergoing a refresh following a disappointing end to the previous season. New signings under the leadership of José Mourinho include playmaker Bernardo Silva, central defender Ibrahima Konaté, right-back Denzel Dumfries, and left-back Marc Cucurella.
