Homeowner Discovers Milk Thief Is a Fox

Homeowners experiencing missing milk deliveries often suspect a human thief. However, Gordon Campbell, a 42-year-old resident near Glasgow, Scotland, discovered an unexpected culprit. After weeks of disappearing milk bottles, Campbell decided to investigate by installing a security camera outside his home, according to news agency SWNS.

Upon reviewing the footage, Campbell found that a young fox was the one stealing the milk. The camera captured the fox approaching the front steps, grabbing a glass bottle with its mouth, and running off with it. This revelation came after a month of mystery, during which Campbell initially suspected a person might be responsible.

At first, Campbell jokingly considered the possibility of a ‘militant vegan’ being the thief. He also suspected magpies due to their intelligence but doubted their ability to carry a bottle. Determined to catch the culprit, Campbell developed a plan. He placed a spare glass bottle filled with milk on his doorstep and positioned a camera to record the scene. The plan succeeded within hours when the fox appeared shortly after 2:30 a.m. on July 20.

‘I found it quite amusing that this cute fox was the one taking the milk,’ Campbell remarked after viewing the footage. ‘All was forgiven when I saw its big ears and its wee face.’ Before this incident, Campbell had paused his milk deliveries, opting to purchase milk from the grocery store due to the thefts. Now, knowing the fox’s identity, he may resume deliveries but plans to use a protective box to store the milk safely.

This wasn’t the first time Campbell encountered a fox near his home. Months earlier, his cat, Bruce, chased a different fox away when it attempted to enter the house through the cat door.
