A concert attendee tragically fell to his death during a Goose performance at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. The New York Police Department (NYPD) reported the incident, which occurred around 10 p.m., involving a 51-year-old man falling from an upper level of the venue.
Upon arriving at the scene following a 911 call, officers found the man unconscious and unresponsive, displaying injuries consistent with a fall from a height. Emergency medical personnel transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was later pronounced dead.
Reports from Fox 5 New York indicated that the fall occurred from the 300 level section of Madison Square Garden. This area includes the arena’s balcony and is significantly elevated above the lower seating sections. The man was attending the concert with his wife according to police reports shared by local media.
The incident took place during the second night of Goose’s sold-out concert series at Madison Square Garden. Band members Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weekz, Peter Anspach, and Cotter Ellis expressed their sorrow in a statement, offering condolences to the victim’s family and thanks to the emergency personnel who responded.
“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show,” the band stated. “Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff for their care and support.”
MSG Entertainment also released a statement expressing deep sadness over the loss. The media group awaited further details as the police investigation continued.
“While we await the police report on the tragedy at last night’s Goose concert, we are deeply saddened by the loss of a fan’s life at Madison Square Garden,” said an MSG Entertainment spokesperson. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the concertgoer.”
Despite the tragic event, Goose is set to perform next at SummerStage in Central Park. This concert is also sold out according to the band’s tour updates.
