Phil Mickelson, a renowned golfer, has lost his membership at The Farms Golf Club in Southern California due to allegations of inappropriate behavior. Reports indicate that Mickelson, 55, was accused of making nonconsensual physical contact with a female employee at the club. The incident reportedly took place in spring, leading to the club’s decision to revoke his membership.
Sources cited in the reports suggest that Mickelson approached the staff member at the clubhouse. After she reported the incident to her supervisors, Mickelson was confronted on the golf course and asked to leave.
The Farms Golf Club, located in Rancho Santa Fe, approximately 25 miles from San Diego, did not specifically name Mickelson but stated, “This individual is no longer a member.” They also mentioned providing ongoing support to the staff member and conducting an independent investigation into the incident.
Mickelson’s representative did not provide comments when contacted, but his attorney, Tom Clare, stated that the allegations were contradicted by video evidence. Clare mentioned that there is misinformation circulating and that Mickelson is focusing on a private family health matter.
A spokesperson for Mickelson emphasized that any misunderstandings have been resolved and highlighted Mickelson’s current focus on his family health situation. In April, Mickelson publicly announced a break from professional golf to address this matter.
Phil Mickelson, a married father of three, is a celebrated figure in golf with six major championships. However, his career has faced scrutiny, notably due to his involvement with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series.
