Serena Williams marked her return to professional tennis with a successful performance at Queen’s Club on Tuesday. After almost four years away from the sport, the 44-year-old displayed her renowned power by hitting serve speeds up to 120 mph. She partnered with 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko and secured a win in their opening doubles match of the grass-court tournament.
The pair faced the third-seeded duo of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe, overcoming them with a 7-6 (2), 6-2 scoreline. This match represented Williams’ first competitive appearance since the 2022 U.S. Open. Her strong finish included two aces and a service winner, reflecting her continued skill and strength on the court.
Although Williams has confirmed her return to doubles, she remains undecided about a potential comeback in singles competition.
