Rodent problems have led to a halt in food deliveries at a Coral Springs convenience store. Inspection reports show persistent issues at the Citgo Food Mart located at 10380 Royal Palm Rd.
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services inspector Timothy O’Neil conducted an inspection Wednesday and discovered a dead rodent and evidence of ongoing infestation. This follows a previous inspection on May 14 that had similar findings.
The May inspection found “fresh rodent droppings” under and around the frozen soda machine, coffee bar, and throughout the processing room. Droppings were also discovered in cabinets under the coffee bar, and among boxes of single-use cups in the backroom.
This resulted in Stop Use Orders being issued for various areas, including the hot foods case, food processing areas, and soda machines. The latest inspection resulted from these continued issues, observing more fresh rodent droppings and a dead rodent in a trap under the sink.
A Stop Sale Order is imminent if pest issues remain unaddressed. Food delivery and service at the store will resume only after effective pest control measures are implemented.
This situation resembles a recent pest issue at a Miami 7-Eleven, emphasizing the importance of food safety and pest management across convenience stores.
“If evidence of pest infestation is observed on the next scheduled inspection, a Stop Sale Order of all foods will be issued,” said Inspector O’Neil.
