Police in Lansing, a suburb of Chicago, issued a shelter-in-place order Thursday as a manhunt began following a reported shooting. Residents near the 2700 block of 170th Street were advised to stay indoors while authorities searched for the suspect.
The suspect is described as a Black male, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black do-rag, a black hoodie, and a white surgical mask. The suspect reportedly fled south from 170th Street.
Dispatch audio reviewed by Fox News Digital revealed that authorities responded to a reported active shooter situation at a chemical plant located across the street from the Lansing Police Department on 170th Street. An individual in the recording mentioned that a helicopter was deployed and efforts to find a K9 unit were underway. The person in the audio also remarked that the suspect “shot every foreign subject in the business.”
At the time of reporting, Lansing police had not confirmed details from the dispatch audio, including the nature of the incident or any potential injuries involved.
The situation remains unclear, and Fox News Digital is actively seeking additional information from the Lansing Police Department and Nippon Paint.
