Wisconsin Voters Impact Democratic Primary

Democrats are turning their attention to Wisconsin voters in the wake of a closely contested primary battle. The governor’s race demonstrated how tight political contests can be in the state.

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley emerged victorious in the Democratic primary for governor. He narrowly defeated his opponent, Francesca Hong, by a margin of approximately 3,800 votes out of the 792,000 total votes. This slim win underscores the competitive nature of Wisconsin’s elections.

Francesca Hong had previously held a substantial lead, surpassing Crowley by more than 20 points in opinion polls conducted two weeks prior to the election. However, as the election day approached, the dynamics shifted. Mainstream Democrats coalesced around Crowley, who was viewed as a more electable option.
