In the latest matchup of the City Series at Wrigley Field, the Chicago White Sox secured a 3-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs on August 19, 2026. The win was celebrated by White Sox second baseman Chase Meidroth, alongside first baseman Munetaka Murakami and third baseman Miguel Vargas.

White Sox catcher Jake Rogers congratulated reliever Grant Taylor following the comprehensive shutout. The final play that sealed the game saw Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman striking out and heading to the dugout with a tinge of disappointment.

White Sox right fielder Braden Montgomery played a pivotal role, hitting a two-run double in the eighth inning, much to the delight of the fans. He also successfully advanced to second base, contributing significantly to the lineup.

Meanwhile, pitcher José Urquidy showcased his skills on the mound in the seventh inning, effectively stifling the Cubs’ offense. Despite efforts by Cubs pitcher Aaron Civale and catcher Carson Kelly to hold off the White Sox, the latter found their way to victory.

The Cubs did have moments of defensive prowess, such as when Cubs first baseman Michael Busch tagged Montgomery out on a pick-off throw from Caleb Thielbar in the sixth inning. However, the White Sox maintained control, with designated hitter Randal Grichuk securing a critical double in the eighth inning.

The rivalry, marked by dramatic moments and tight plays, adds another memorable chapter to the famous City Series, with the White Sox emerging victorious on this occasion.
