After a wild night at the ballpark with mayflies falling by the thousands, today presents a beautiful morning. The sun is shining, and the birds are active, marking the start of another edition of Wednesday Screencaps.
This morning, I was surprised to see Freddy, a viral German soccer fan, passing through Elmore, Ohio, during his journey east for more World Cup matches. Elmore is a familiar town, a place where we’ve brought the kids to see Santa at an old settler’s log cabin. Mrs. Screencaps favors the local greenhouse, Bench’s. Next Monday, my 14U rec team is set to play a match against Elmore’s team.
Elmore symbolizes what America represents: family, hard work, and community, living life without trouble. However, just up the road in Toledo, they have announced increased safety measures for Fourth of July fireworks due to past incidents at community events.
If you’re traveling along the Ohio Turnpike, stop at Elmore. Visit Schedel Gardens to admire the landscapes crafted by Joe and Marie Schedel. You won’t regret it.
As World Cup fans marvel at the concept of ‘free refills’ in the United States, Gen Z finds Vegas fascinating with its abundance of pot and meat.
Upcoming Golf Adventure
I face 172 holes of golf over five days. It includes five stroke play rounds, two scrambles, a Ryder Cup two-man scramble, and a Ryder Cup match play.
The trip begins with Jack Nicklaus’ Bear course in Traverse City, a course ranked among the hardest public golf courses in the U.S. Nicklaus had intended it to be easier, but the investor insisted on its difficulty, making it a challenging experience.
We’ll continue to an Arnold Palmer course and a Tom Weiskopf design before heading to Garland Resort in northern Michigan for a major golf event.
As I prepare, my handicap stands at 18, a bogey golfer who counts every stroke. There’s no leniency in my game: no gimmes or breakfast balls. My goal is a round scoring in the 80s, challenging given the course difficulty. While there will be drinks involved, my strategy involves careful play, aiming for bogeys, and attempting to secure some pars while avoiding double bogeys.
Golfing Spirit
Lee, officially recognized as a Screencaps spirit animal, embodies the golfing spirit. His viral achievement has won admiration. His triumph, “A beer & two darts,” symbolizes a sport many will never achieve.
Celebrate ordinary players like Lee, who shares his love for the game with genuine joy.
Lee exemplifies the America I aspire to live in.
Thursday Night Mowing League (TNML)
Chris, a new member of the TNML, recently discovered the league through FoxNews.com. The league offers more than mowing; it promotes mental health. Chris’s relief from weekend dread is why TNML matters.
As TNML grows, more weekend warriors realize there’s a different approach to mowing.
And now, it’s time to wrap up, prepare mentally and physically for my challenge, and aim to replicate Lee’s achievements. May your Wednesday be fruitful, and as June sunsets, make the most of it.
Take advantage of the last days of June. Enjoy the moments before they pass.
