Singer Taylor Swift mentioned these comments when she supported Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Beverly Vance, JD Vance’s mother, was unaware of Swift’s remarks related to her son. Vice President Vance celebrated his mother Beverly Aikins’ ten years of sobriety at the White House on April 4, 2025.
During an appearance on OutKick’s “Tomi Lahren is Fearless,” Vance mentioned, “I had no idea that’s what she was even doing. Until you just said that, I didn’t even put the two together,” laughing as he addressed the situation.
In 2021, JD Vance was interviewed on Fox News by Tucker Carlson. At the time, Vance, a Senate candidate, stated that Democrats are “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.” Beverly Vance explained that her son intended the comment humorously, noting his sense of humor.
“I just thought it was funny,” Beverly shared, “JD’s got a sense of humor and he was making a joke. Obviously, people didn’t take it as a joke, but I know JD and he meant it as one.” In his book, the vice president acknowledged the comment was a mistake.
Swift endorsed Harris and Walz while posing with a cat, further referencing the comment. Tomi Lahren pointed out that Swift’s husband, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, shares a connection with Ohio, similar to the Vances. Beverly noted Kelce played football at the University of Cincinnati.
