Usha Vance Responds to Abdul El-Sayed’s Comments

Second lady Usha Vance defended herself against comments made by Democratic Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed. Her remarks were shared during a preview of her appearance on ‘Fox & Friends.’ This came after El-Sayed’s campaign targeted White House aide Natalie Harp, following their previous attacks on Vance.

The campaign occurred after President Donald Trump’s announcement to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America amid trade tensions with Canada. The El-Sayed campaign posted a meme on X, featuring a doctored image of the White House’s official page for first lady Melania Trump, replacing her name with Natalie Harp’s.

Criticism followed swiftly from conservatives on social media. GOP communicator Matt Whitlock mocked the campaign’s approach on X, questioning the tactics used. Another comment by journalist James David Dickson suggested that the campaign’s strategy was counterproductive.

The campaign’s actions prompted further backlash. A post from Michigan Forward on X labeled the offensive as distasteful. Political commentator Melik Abdul noted the presence of sexism and misogyny in the attack, connecting it to broader criticisms of El-Sayed’s statements.

Natalie Harp, recognized for her support of Trump’s administration, became a White House aide after surviving bone cancer, attributing her recovery to Trump’s “right to try” order. Her relationship with Trump has faced speculative scrutiny in the media recently.

El-Sayed also responded to Vice President JD Vance’s comment about his grandfather, speculating about Usha Vance, JD’s wife, traveling back in time to meet Vance’s ‘Papaw.’ Usha Vance is of Indian descent, and El-Sayed’s remark seemed to question Vance’s heritage.
