U.S.-Canada Agreement Delays New Tariffs

High tariffs, announced in the previous month, were scheduled to begin at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday. President Donald Trump indicated that the delay in implementing these tariffs will continue for three days, pending the completion of an agreement.

A last-minute agreement between the United States and Canada on Tuesday night prevented the enactment of new 50 percent tariffs on beer, cheese, and other products from Canada. These tariffs, revealed by President Trump last month and set to take effect early Wednesday morning, would have increased tensions with Canada, a crucial trade partner for the U.S.
