The property, located in the affluent Jamaica Estates neighborhood, was sold for $1.93 million by a buyer whose identity remains undisclosed. Real estate listings revealed the transaction on Friday, showing the deal initiated in July.

Renovation Efforts

The seller, Tommy Lin, acquired the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house for $835,000 in the previous year after it sat abandoned. Lin, a developer, invested $500,000 in renovations over eight months. Enhancements included new amenities such as a chef’s kitchen, herringbone wood floors, and spa-like bathrooms.

History of Ownership Changes

In recent years, the home changed ownership several times. Post-Trump’s presidency in 2017, it sold for $2.14 million to Trump Birth Home LLC and was briefly rented on Airbnb. It featured memorabilia of Trump, including a life-size cardboard cutout, copies of “The Art of the Deal,” and a framed magazine cover. Attempts to sell in 2019 for $2.9 million were unsuccessful until Lin purchased it.

Challenges Before Renovation

Before Lin’s renovation, the property faced deterioration due to water damage and mold from a burst pipe. A colony of feral cats inhabited the home, adding to its disrepair.

Now 80, President Trump made his fortune in real estate. Known for developing properties like Trump Tower in Manhattan, his transition from a real estate mogul to a political figure has been notable. As president, he’s personally overseeing renovations such as adding a massive ballroom to the White House, featuring the gold-plated fixtures typical of his style.
