Trump Commits to Campaign for Republican Candidates in 35 Races

President Donald Trump has announced plans to support Republican candidates in 35 crucial races leading up to the November midterm elections. Speaking at a White House dinner with GOP members of Congress, Trump stated, “I’m going to take the final 30 days, and maybe a little bit more than that, because it’s all about 35 races.” He emphasized his intention to visit each location with the aim of securing victories for the Republicans.

Among the races he plans to visit is the re-election campaign of Sen. Dan Sullivan in Alaska. Trump mentioned his plan to assist Sullivan, taking a jab at one of his opponents who shares the same name, and expressed his intention to visit Texas to support Attorney General Ken Paxton in his Senate race against Democrat James Talarico.

The event, held in the White House Rose Garden, saw attendance from several Republicans facing tough contests. These include Representatives Derrick Van Orden from Wisconsin, Tom Barrett from Michigan, and Mike Collins from Georgia. Trump stressed that he would not campaign for candidates with a substantial lead or long-standing incumbency, saying, “If you’re leading by 40 points and you’ve been there for 25 years, please don’t ask me to come to your area and make a speech.”

Despite the midterms not directly affecting him, Trump reassured reporters of his commitment to bolstering his party. “I’m not affected by the election,” he remarked from the Oval Office. “No. 1, I’m not running. My party’s running, and I’m going to help my party.” He had previously asked supporters to “pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot” when voting in the midterms.

The former president’s involvement comes as his super PAC, MAGA Inc., reports a substantial fund of over $400 million. This financial reservoir offers hope to Republican candidates in critical races, who anticipate the funds will be channeled into their campaigns.
