Administration Boosts Efforts in Fraud Prevention

The Trump administration is increasing its efforts to combat fraud across the nation. Independent journalist Nick Shirley has provided crucial Senate testimony, revealing widespread misuse of taxpayer funds. Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald announced the recovery of over $1 billion from trade fraud.

Dr. Oz has joined the fight, uncovering significant fraud in Medicaid funding through fraudulent adult daycare centers in New York City. This highlights a broader national issue.

Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program Announcement

President Trump and Vice President JD Vance are launching a $25 million Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program (WHIP).

This program will reward tipsters with up to $30,000 if their information leads to a successful fraud conviction or major federal enforcement action. The announcement will take place in the Oval Office.

President Trump plans to present Nick Shirley with a $10,000 check for exposing suspected fraud in Minnesota. Lauren Bis, White House spokeswoman, emphasized the administration’s zero tolerance for those misusing taxpayer money.

Justice Department’s Role and Tip Submission

The Justice Department will oversee the new program, allowing Americans to submit tips through fraud.gov. The initiative encourages both journalists and citizens to report suspected taxpayer money fraud.

Impact of Nick Shirley’s Reporting

Nick Shirley gained attention in December 2025 after questioning the legitimacy of several Somali-run daycare centers in Minnesota. His video showed empty facilities and alleged that no children were seen at these locations.

The White House credited Shirley’s reporting with initiating FBI and Homeland Security investigations, resulting in arrests and new charges. The Future Leaders Early Learning Center was a focal point, with former CEO Fahima Egeh Mahamud pleading guilty to wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Federal Charges and Ongoing Investigations

Federal agents executed a search warrant at Ultimate Home Health Services over potential Medicaid fraud. Shirley’s reporting linked Mahamud to over $4.6 million stolen through false child care claims and $850,000 from a federal child nutrition program.

Shirley defended his findings, stating, “numbers don’t lie, and convictions don’t lie either.”

Broad Campaign Against Fraud

The reward program enhances the administration’s efforts against fraud in federal benefits programs. Trump established the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, directing efforts across agencies to uncover fraud and improve payment systems.

Rewards depend on the success of the provided tip leading to a conviction or significant action.
