The golf community often speculates about when Tiger Woods might return to the sport. This question has resurfaced after Woods’ recent DUI-related incident in March. However, recent developments provide some clues about his potential comeback.
Woods’ last significant golf action occurred in March 2026, during a TGL event. That same month, he faced arrests for DUI charges in Florida. After undergoing a rehab program abroad, Woods negotiated a plea deal that reduced his charges by September.
Early October saw Woods hitting golf balls at a TGR Live event. Although the footage showed him playing just one shot, it sparked rumors about his return to competitive golf.
Woods is now eligible for the PGA Tour Champions circuit, as he has turned 50. Although a debut on the senior circuit remains possible, Woods has not formally committed to it. Nevertheless, there are other plausible scenarios for his return to golf, each supported by evidence.
A Return in the Bahamas
Woods has historically hosted the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. With the 2026 event scheduled for early December, participating in this limited-field tournament could be an ideal return path for him. The initial 20-player field was announced with only 17 names listed, meaning Woods could claim one of the three remaining spots. It is important to note that he hasn’t participated in the Hero World Challenge since 2023.
A Comeback in the TGL
Though the TGL 2027 schedule is pending, Woods was confirmed as a returning player for the Jupiter Links team alongside Tom Kim, Max Homa, Akshay Bhatia, and Keith Mitchell. Woods’ inclusion in the initial roster signifies his intention to compete at some level.
Returning to the TGL would be logical for Woods, as he co-founded the simulated indoor league in 2022. Based on the 2026 schedule, the new TGL season could start at the end of December and conclude in late March. Woods’ last competitive appearance was at The Open in July 2024.
