The Onion Satirizes InfoWars and Alex Jones

Satirical publication The Onion has launched its parody version of the conspiracy site InfoWars. This includes a spoof video featuring a fictitious death of its founder, Alex Jones. This move comes amid The Onion’s ongoing legal attempts to take over the InfoWars platform.

The Onion has sought control of InfoWars for more than a year. This follows a court order requiring Jones to pay over $1 billion to the families of Sandy Hook victims. He falsely claimed the tragedy was a hoax. On Thursday, The Onion released its first parody video called “ALEX JONES IS DEAD—Real InfoWars Livestream,” even as the acquisition process is pending.

Comedian Tim Heidecker impersonates Jones in the video. He opens by telling viewers they’ve obtained footage supposedly showing Jones exploding like a balloon in his car two months prior. He says, “That’s right folks. Alex Jones, the Alex Jones that we have come to know over the years is dead.”

The video includes a scene depicting a black vehicle with an unseen occupant, followed by an explosion. The visual suggests the mock demise of Alex Jones, with Heidecker narrating, “There’s a violent sudden impact from inside the car, essentially the body of Alex Jones disintegrating instantly and exploding out.” The video contains graphic content and explicit language.

Jones has not made any comments in response to the parody. He continues to be active on X, sharing new episodes of his own show, The Alex Jones Show, on his website, Alex Jones Live.
