The Freeze is a unique fixture at Atlanta Braves games, providing entertaining races for fans. During these events, The Freeze races a fan on the warning track in the outfield. The fan receives a significant head start, yet The Freeze often catches up and wins.
On Thursday, an Atlanta Braves fan underestimated The Freeze’s speed and paid the price. As the race began, the fan blew a kiss to The Freeze, clearly believing he had the upper hand. However, as the fan turned to see The Freeze gaining, he desperately sped up. Sadly, it wasn’t enough.
“A fan races The Freeze during a game between the Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves.”
The Freeze surged past, returning the playful gesture while overtaking the fan effortlessly. After opening up a significant lead, The Freeze slowed slightly to cruise to the finish line.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves, atop the National League East with a 61-42 record, are cautious not to follow the fan’s lead in blowing their advantage. They currently hold a 5.5-game edge over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Although 5.5 games seem comfortable, it’s a noticeable drop from the 10.5-game lead earlier in the season on May 22. After facing challenges in June, the Braves have since found stability. This was evident in their recent 7-6 victory against the Baltimore Orioles.
Fans are eagerly watching as the Braves continue this three-game series, with the next matchup scheduled for Saturday at 7:05 p.m. ET.
