In a Miami charter boarding school, a personal conflict between two teachers resulted in both being arrested after an encounter turned violent. According to a police arrest affidavit, Terrod Tiyan Torrence, 36, and Odiria Biggins, who were previously in a romantic relationship and have a child together, became involved in a physical altercation.
Days before the incident, Torrence reportedly left a handwritten note on Biggins’ desk, asking to meet. They agreed to meet on July 17 in Classroom 119 at The SEED School of Miami, as stated in the affidavit.
What began as a discussion quickly escalated. Investigators reported that Torrence allegedly punched Biggins in the head, then slammed her head against a wall, causing her to lose consciousness.
After regaining consciousness, Biggins allegedly retrieved pepper spray from her vehicle and later sprayed Torrence on campus, according to WSVN, a local news outlet. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Biggins entering a classroom where Torrence was present. Moments later, both exited, with Torrence appearing to have difficulty walking due to eye irritation. School staff assisted him, and he was taken to a hospital.
Biggins was arrested and charged with discharging a weapon on school property and misdemeanor domestic violence battery. Her bond was set at $2,000. Torrence was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence battery and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond was also set at $2,000, and a no-contact order was issued to prevent contact with Biggins. His arraignment is scheduled for September 23.
It is not yet known what triggered the argument or if any students witnessed the event. Authorities have reached out to the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and The SEED School of Miami for further details, including the employment status of both teachers.
