Suspect in Monaco Bombing Found Dead in Ukraine

A Ukrainian woman implicated in an attempted bombing targeting a wealthy businessman in Monaco has been found shot dead in Kyiv, according to Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s office. This development follows the arrest of a Ukrainian military intelligence employee who confessed to the murder alongside a former law enforcement officer.

Interpol had identified 39-year-old Anastasiia Berezovska as a suspect in the bombing. The attack, which occurred in the lobby of a Monaco apartment building, was believed to target Ukrainian-born businessman Vadym Yermolaiev and his family. The blast left Yermolaiev and his wife seriously injured, while their teenage son sustained less severe injuries.

On Friday, Interpol issued a “Red Notice” for Berezovska, accusing her of attempted murder and criminal intention related to the bomb placement. The bombing has been widely reported in both French and Ukrainian media.

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) stated that Berezovska entered Ukraine on July 1, one day post-bombing. Investigations showed her communication with her family and two men: a former law enforcement officer and a current employee of the HUR, Ministry of Internal Affairs. Evidence suggested that these men had sent various financial transfers to Berezovska’s crypto and bank accounts. The HUR employee admitted his involvement in her death.

The SBU also disclosed a search of the former law enforcement officer’s residence revealing a basement likened to a torture chamber. The incident has sent shockwaves through Monaco, a nation known for its affluent populace. Prince Albert II condemned the bombing as a “heinous act” and assured that all public services were engaged to provide security.

Monaco’s deputy public prosecutor Morgan Raymon highlighted the remote detonation of the bomb, emphasizing the calculated nature of the attack. Although Monaco authorities have not officially named the victims, media sources suggest the attack targeted Yermolaiev, a 58-year-old businessman who now holds Cypriot nationality, along with his partner and child.
