Sen. Darline Graham Shares Oval Office Encounter with President Trump

Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., recently disclosed details of her meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. The conversation followed the sudden passing of her brother, the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.

The president expressed sincere condolences for the loss of Lindsey Graham. Senator Graham shared with Fox News’ Sean Hannity that Trump spoke fondly of her brother, emphasizing their friendship and how he considered Lindsey as family.

“He talked about him and what a good friend he was, how he considered him family,” Graham said during the “Hangout with Sean Hannity” podcast.

Sen. Graham, who was appointed by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster to temporarily fill her brother’s Senate seat, used the Oval Office meeting to address pressing issues. One key topic was advancing sanctions on Russia, which she believed was a priority for her brother.

“I went on to mention that there were some things that I felt like were very important to Lindsey — Russia sanctions — and that I really wanted to push those across the finish line,” she explained.

She was surprised when Trump publicly encouraged her to run in the upcoming special election. The president assured her of his complete endorsement if she chose to enter the race.

Trump later urged Graham to run, promising his “complete and total endorsement.”

Despite the unexpected nature of this endorsement, Sen. Graham has announced her plans to seek a full Senate term, determined to continue her brother’s work.

“I feel like I can do this, and the meeting with the president, it was such an honor,” she stated. She promised, “I can tell you this about me: I will work hard, and I’m loyal.”
