Maine’s Biddeford police confirmed an investigation into the vandalism is underway. Matt Harrington, a Maine state senator, shared the news on social media, accompanied by a photo of the vandalized doors.
Katie Brown, Collins’ Chief of Staff, reiterated their commitment to continue operations despite the incident. She expressed that vandalism is unacceptable, and the office remains operational.
Collins, a five-term senator, is in a competitive re-election campaign. She faces a significant challenge from Jackson, the former Senate president of Maine. The race is critical for Democrats aiming to regain control of the Senate.
Former state representative Austin Theriault criticized the theft and intimidation tactics. He praised Collins for likely condemning similar actions if reversed and questioned Democrats’ response to the incident.
Maine GOP Communications Director Kristina Parker identified the vandalism as part of a broader pattern of aggression from the radical left. She expressed hope for a swift legal process to denounce such volatile behavior.
Collins’ Biddeford office is located near the site of a controversial ICE shooting incident in July. This incident sparked protests outside her office, objecting to her support for ICE funding.
