Roman Reigns Retains Title Against LA Knight at Money in the Bank

Roman Reigns successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight at the Money in the Bank event in New Orleans. The match took place at the Smoothie King Center and kept the crowd engaged from start to finish.

Initially, the audience seemed to favor Reigns, acknowledging him with chants. However, as Knight came close to pinning Reigns, the crowd’s support shifted. They hoped to witness Knight achieve a victory in what was arguably the best match of his WWE career to date.

Knight displayed an impressive array of maneuvers, including a jumping superplex and putting Reigns in the Burning Hammer. Despite taking several Superman punches, Knight managed to keep his shoulders off the mat. He skillfully avoided a spear, countering with a BFT, and outside the ring, he dodged Reigns’ attempt to spear him through the barricade, instead powerbombing him through the announce table.

Back in the ring, Knight could not secure the victory. The near pinfalls electrified the crowd. Ultimately, Knight’s momentum faltered when Reigns targeted him with a low blow. Reigns followed up with two more Superman punches and the final spear to seal his victory.

Reigns showed resilience to Knight’s mind games, staring him down after Knight’s provocative gestures, and maintained a slow, deliberate pace throughout the match. This strategy contrasted with his more intense title defense against Penta in Mexico City the previous month.

Post-match, Reigns continued to assert his dominance as a top WWE superstar, holding the title of the ‘Head of the Table.’ Despite his victory, new challenges emerged almost immediately. The group known as 946, consisting of Royce Keys, Lucien Price, and Bronco Nima, made their presence known, indicating their interest in pursuing Reigns’ title. The Usos and Solo Sikoa confronted 946, leading to a brawl that spread through the arena.

The night’s events suggest that while Reigns has dealt with LA Knight, a looming conflict with 946 is on the horizon, promising more challenges for The Bloodline.
