Remains Discovered in Arizona Backyard Amid Missing Persons Investigation

The remains of two individuals were uncovered in an Arizona backyard on Thursday. This discovery occurred during a police search for a missing couple, as their son is suspected of fleeing the country, authorities said.

Avondale police spokesperson, Officer Daniel Benavidez, stated that Matthew Flores, 27, was initially included in the missing persons report filed by worried relatives on Tuesday. When officers carried out a welfare check at the Litchfield Park residence, they noticed signs of foul play.

Benavidez explained, “We identified a large amount of blood and evidence suggesting an attempt to conceal that blood. This led us to believe foul play is involved.” This was disclosed at a news conference held on Thursday.

The human remains found had not yet been identified as of Thursday afternoon. Phoenix police’s homicide unit is assisting in the recovery process, according to Benavidez.

Two individuals were discovered deceased in their backyard in Avondale, Arizona, on Thursday.

Family members contacted the police on Tuesday afternoon, expecting to find the mother, father, and their adult son at the residence where the remains were later located. However, Benavidez said the names of the parents were not released at the family’s request.

The bodies were significantly decomposed, and it was unclear how long they had been in the backyard, Benavidez noted.

Authorities labeled Flores as a suspect in the ongoing missing persons investigation on Thursday. They are actively searching for Flores and have several leads, Benavidez said. The police urged anyone with information regarding Flores’ whereabouts or movements to get in touch with the department.

Benavidez refrained from disclosing the country to which Flores is believed to have fled. “All I can say is that he fled the country,” he commented.
