Red-Green Alliance and the Threat to U.S. Security

A former official from the Reagan administration is raising concerns about a developing ‘red-green alliance’ between radical Islamists and far-left socialists. He warns that these groups are aligning over a common anti-American agenda. Frank Gaffney discussed this with Fox News Digital, highlighting the growing presence of the Democratic Socialists of America and the potential threats to U.S. national security.

Gaffney believes that radical Islamists share a form of communism, incorporating religious aspects. Though they may have different goals, their shared totalitarian nature unites them against the United States, which obstructs their ambitions.

One can argue that the Sharia supremacists are pursuing communism with a God, or at least a patina, a veneer of religiosity to it.

A recent protest in New York City demonstrated solidarity with Palestinians, supported by the Democratic Socialists of America. Around 1,000 protesters attended the rally, casting light on the DSA’s extreme, anti-American views that are influencing the Democratic Party.

Gaffney served as assistant secretary of defense for international security under Ronald Reagan. He founded the Center for Security Policy think tank in Washington, D.C., and currently leads the Institute for the American Future. The ‘red-green alliance’ describes cooperation between far-left movements, symbolized by red, and Islamist movements, symbolized by green.

Discussions in the Senate Judiciary subcommittee recently debated the alliance. Sen. Ted Cruz questioned Kyle Shideler of the Center for Security Policy on the potential collaboration between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Democratic Socialists of America. Shideler concurred with the idea of a ‘Red-Green Alliance’ and noted its revolutionary goal to challenge and suppress American values, including its Constitution.

Gaffney also commented on Cruz’s statement, stressing that these movements are willing to ally temporarily to demolish the United States.

What they have in common is much more important than their differences.

‘Red-green alliances’ face criticism from within the Muslim community as well. Dalia Ziada, a scholar now based outside Egypt, sees these alignments as detrimental to U.S. politics and Western society. A Fox News Digital investigation revealed around 425 organizations, encompassing communist groups and Muslim advocacy organizations, as part of a protest network with roughly $1 billion in annual revenue.
