Rapidly Spreading Fire Burns in Malibu

20 minutes ago 0

The Bryson Fire ignited on Thursday afternoon in Malibu, California, swiftly expanding across the dry, brush-heavy terrain. By nightfall, the fire had burned approximately 200 acres, fueled by severe drought conditions and intense Santa Ana winds.

Starting at around 4:40 p.m., the blaze escalated from its initial 2-acre size to encompass 100 acres within just two hours. This rapid growth led authorities to issue evacuation warnings and orders to residents in the affected areas. Efforts to combat the fire began promptly, with firefighters undertaking aerial operations to contain the spread.

Supporting the firefighting efforts was the Community Brigade, a group of local volunteers specially trained to respond to wildland fires. Their involvement is part of a community initiative that arose following the devastating Woolsey Fire in 2018, underscoring the region’s proactive approach to wildfire readiness.
