Prospective 2028 Democratic Presidential Rivals Visit the South

1 month ago 0

Looking toward the 2028 Democratic presidential race, potential candidates are focusing their attention on the Southern states. This region is crucial for the party, as Black voters here have historically played a significant role in choosing Democratic nominees.

Among these politicians is former Vice President Kamala Harris, who has recently toured the South. She is joined by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York, who also made a noteworthy visit.

On May 20, 2026, Representative Ocasio-Cortez actively participated in a rally outside the Alabama Capitol in Montgomery. She was in the company of celebrated voting-rights activists.

“We stand united for the democratic process and the rights of every American,” Ocasio-Cortez proclaimed.

Joining her were Senators Raphael Warnock and Cory Booker. Though none of them serve Alabama, their presence highlights the state’s importance in upcoming elections.

These trips by key Democratic personalities underscore a strategic movement to engage Black voters and expand the party’s influence across Southern states.
