Proposed Legislation Aims to Protect Immigrant Parents in U.S.

3 weeks ago 0

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a Democrat from Washington, introduced a new bill named Orlin’s Law on Thursday. This legislation seeks to prevent the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from detaining or deporting immigrant parents unless they are considered a threat to public safety. The proposal is dedicated to a three-year-old boy from Florida who tragically lost his life after ICE deported his mother.

Orlin’s Law aims to address issues faced by immigrant families, emphasizing the need to prioritize the welfare of children left behind. The bill highlights a growing concern for the impact immigration policies have on families and communities across the nation.
