Prince Harry is exploring options to bring his wife Meghan and their children on his upcoming trip to the UK. This visit, expected next month, is complicated by a security dispute, stated representatives for the royal couple.
According to BBC News, the prince reconsidered the trip scheduled for July after his request for taxpayer-funded police protection was denied by British authorities.
The Sussexes’ representatives shared with CBS News that Prince Harry is looking into options to ensure a safe visit, allowing his children to enjoy the UK.
In 2024, Prince Harry lost a legal battle regarding his security detail. This followed the couple’s 2020 decision to step back from official royal roles and move to California.
After the appeal loss in 2025, Prince Harry expressed doubts about visiting the UK without the protection provided to other senior royals.
Typically, high-profile working royals receive dedicated police protection. However, Harry and his family no longer have blanket coverage, subject instead to case-by-case assessments by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec).
Harry’s legal team argued that private security would be insufficient in the UK due to limitations like not carrying firearms or accessing official security networks. This remains a significant factor in planning his family’s visit.
